Dionysus is in a kitchen, apron tied over a purple dress with vine details, singing to himself as he uses a melon baller to scoop out a watermelon. The large bowl next to him is already full of honeydew melon and cantaloupe, and he's got a few other ingredients nearby ready to add in once he's done with the watermelon. Mint leaves, some honey, some lemon juice, and some lime juice.

It has been quite an eventful time lately, but overall his life is pretty great right now.

"Okay let's -- let's go make it!" he says, grabbing Grantaire's hand and practically dragging him to the table to sit down. "So -- should it say Étienne and Di-- oh, wait, you probably want it to say say your surname, huh--"

[futaille]

"More people know me as Grantaire, so it would make sense. You can put both on there if you'd like but then my name is so much longer than yours."

[vineleaves]

"Not if we put all of my names too," he says with a smirk.

[futaille]

He grins. "Do it. Or at least as many as you feel like."

[vineleaves]

He laughs. "We'd need a bigger door, I think. Grantaire and Dionysus or Dionysus and Grantaire?"

[futaille]

"Dionysus and Grantaire. Alphabetical."

[vineleaves]

"That works!" He starts making the sign, rectangular with decorative vines across the top and bottom, reading

Before he makes it metal he asks, "Look okay?"

[futaille]

"It's perfect."

[vineleaves]

He grins and the sign turns metal, making a very solid thunk when he sets it down on the table. “Glad to have that problem so quickly solved!”

[futaille]

"Because we're brilliant, clearly." He grins. "Also, I think we should check to make sure the bedroom still works."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus laughs. "You're right, it might have stopped working in the move, wouldn't that be tragic."

[futaille]

"Can't have that. Best to be sure."

[vineleaves]

"Yes, we must be thorough in our investigation." He pulls Grantaire into another kiss.

[futaille]

He kisses back, holding Dionysus close.

[vineleaves]

He starts leading Grantaire over to the bed, not breaking the kiss.

[futaille]

Grantaire is quite happy to be led, under the circumstances. He smiles around the kiss.

[vineleaves]

Dionysus does spare a quick glance up to the ceiling to make sure the most important feature of the room survived the move -- everything seems to be exactly where it was when he left the room this morning, but it doesn't hurt to check. He gently pulls Grantaire down to the bed and starts untying his cravat.

[futaille]

He catches that glance and his smile softens. "If they were gone, I'd put them back for you."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus blushes a little at having been so obvious about it, but Grantaire is so sweet it almost makes him want to cry. "I love you, so so much, Étienne."

[futaille]

"I love you too, you know."

[vineleaves]

"You make me unimaginably happy," he murmurs before resuming both the kissing and the undressing.

[futaille]

He totally shifts to help but obviously won't interrupt the conversation. "Oh, unimaginably?"

[vineleaves]

He pauses what he was doing¹ so that he can cup Grantaire's face and rub his thumb across his cheek. "I never -- I didn't think, after Ampelos died, that I'd be so lucky to find someone who I love so much, who makes me so happy." Ariadne's death had been hard enough, but to find someone else so perfect only a few centuries later, only to lose him even faster... it didn't seem likely that Dionysus would be as fortunate again.


1. Unbuttoning Grantaire's waistcoat.

[futaille]

"Oh." He's not exactly sure when it's going to stop being a surprise to hear things like that, but it's at least beginning to feel less uncomfortable. "Well, I'm happy to make you happy."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus presses a kiss to Grantaire's forehead then starts a trail of kisses down the side of his cheek, over to his ear, then down to his neck.
