Dionysus is in a kitchen, apron tied over a purple dress with vine details, singing to himself as he uses a melon baller to scoop out a watermelon. The large bowl next to him is already full of honeydew melon and cantaloupe, and he's got a few other ingredients nearby ready to add in once he's done with the watermelon. Mint leaves, some honey, some lemon juice, and some lime juice.

It has been quite an eventful time lately, but overall his life is pretty great right now.

"Oh well then in that case you might like the cantaloupe. Probably not as much as the watermelon though, I think it's probably closer to the honeydew than it is the watermelon."

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot nods and then thoughtfully tastes the cantaloupe. "I like this better," he says, after a moment.

[vineleaves]

“Better than honeydew or better than watermelon?”

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Better than honeydew. I think the watermelon best."

[vineleaves]

"I think watermelon definitely has the best texture out of the three."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"I imagine they will all taste good with mint and honey."

[vineleaves]

"It's one of my favorite ways to eat these! I'm almost done too, don't worry."

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot smiles, "I am in no hurry."

[vineleaves]

Sure enough, it's just a couple more minutes until Dionysus has everything together, and some portions scooped out into bowls for each of them. "Here you are, darling!"

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Dost know," taking his bowl with a little nod of thanks, "thou'rt not very much like a god at all, I think."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus frowns. "Wh - why do you say that?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

"It is a compliment," he says, reassuringly. "Thou dost enjoy working with thine own hands, and caring for thy friends. And it is easy to relate to thee -- 'tis often difficult for me to relate to others."

[vineleaves]

"Oh -- ah, thank you, then, I'm -- I'm glad to help. Ah, sorry, I guess I'm just not used to hearing that I'm not, y'know, much like a god in a good context, it sorta threw me off there for a second."

[lanselos_du_lac]

His expression shifts to concern, "What dost thou mean?"

[vineleaves]

"Well -- you know, it's... it's unusual, first off, for a god to have a mortal parent. I'm a full god, but I'm also half mortal, and I don't exactly look like most gods, nor do I have a lot of very basic powers that everyone else in my family has... People've been, well, unkind about it to me before, I guess."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"I think that is unfair," frowning a little. "We all of us have limitations. There is no shame in that."

This from the man who will absolutely hold himself to an impossible and unnecessary standard, given the chance.

[vineleaves]

"My family has a tendency to be unfair, I suppose," he shrugs. "Thank you, though. You're very kind."

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot gives his own little shrug, "Thou'rt my friend."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus smiles. "I'm very glad we're friends, you know."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Really?" He laughs a little. "Why?"

[vineleaves]

"Why am I glad we're friends?" he asks with a laugh, like it should be obvious. "You're fun to be around, for one. And you're just, y'know, a great guy."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Fun?" He seems glad, delighted even, but definitely surprised.

[vineleaves]

"Yeah, I have fun talking with you."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Oh. I see," though there is a faintly perplexed air about it. He deliberately refocuses and digs into the fruit salad.

"You don't believe me?"
