Dionysus is in a kitchen, apron tied over a purple dress with vine details, singing to himself as he uses a melon baller to scoop out a watermelon. The large bowl next to him is already full of honeydew melon and cantaloupe, and he's got a few other ingredients nearby ready to add in once he's done with the watermelon. Mint leaves, some honey, some lemon juice, and some lime juice.

It has been quite an eventful time lately, but overall his life is pretty great right now.

"That's a good point. At what point does the scale of unusualness just devolve into a ... a mess..."

"I don't know and I'm pretty sure I'd rather not find out, really."

[vineleaves]

He laughs. "Seems like quite a subjective thing to try and map out anyway."

[sporesprouter]

"Definitely true. Unusual for one person is absolutely normal for someone else."

[vineleaves]

“As, I think, everyone here will agree.”

[sporesprouter]

"Absolutely. If it's something you didn't know already, it's definitely something you'll learn here, anyway. Especially if you come from a world without water seas."

[vineleaves]

"So there's not any water at all in the seas?"

[sporesprouter]

She shakes her head. "When I got here, the lake was the most water I've ever seen in one place in my life. Our seas are just full of the spores."

[vineleaves]

"Are there... are there just no fishies then?"

[sporesprouter]

"Oh, there are lakes with water and fish, I just grew up on an island too small to have one."

[vineleaves]

"Were the seas always full of spores, or did they use to have water and changed at some point?"

[sporesprouter]

"Always, as far as I know. They fall from the moons."

[vineleaves]

"...Huh. Interesting."

[sporesprouter]

She nods. "Each moon makes a different kind."

[vineleaves]

"How many kinds are there?" He's clearly very curious about this. Partially because it's vine-related and he's, you know, himself, but also because he's incredibly nosy.

[sporesprouter]

"Twelve. Each kind does something different when water touches it."

[vineleaves]

"I'm on the edge of my seat, what do they all do?"

[sporesprouter]

"I haven't been to all of the seas yet, so there are some I don't actually know, but of the ones most used by sprouters... verdant spores turn to vines, sunlight spores flash into light and heat, rose spores make crystals, and zephyr spores make a burst of air. They're not really used on ships, but we sailed through the Crimson, so I can also tell you that crimson spores grow into sharp spikes."

[vineleaves]

"These are all incredibly specific things," he says, though he sounds delighted by it rather than judgmental, at least.

[sporesprouter]

"That makes sense. They all do pretty specific things."

[vineleaves]

"Amazing. Sorry if I'm being too nosy or anything, I'm just so intrigued by all this."

[sporesprouter]

"No, don't worry, it's fine. There's nothing wrong with wanting to learn something new."

[vineleaves]

"That's what I always say!" He doesn't, actually, always say that.

[sporesprouter]

"Then there you have it." She finishes scooping her melon half.

[vineleaves]

He definitely forgot what he was doing for a moment, but quickly finishes up combining the honey, juice, and chopped up mint, then dumps it unceremoniously into the bowl with the fruit before he starts stirring it all together. “Thank you, by the way.”
