Open: In a shout of joy at the only shrine where you come benighted and leave benign

Dark has come and gone again, which means it’s time to party.

In some ways the party is very similar to last year’s - same large banquet room in the mansion, a similarly large abundance of food and drink, and the promise of a night full of letting loose for everyone in attendance. It’s far from a direct clone of the previous party though. For starters, Dionysus has had Claudius help him in all of the planning (sometimes a god’s blessings come in the form of enrichment for one’s enclosure). They’ve gotten several of the mansion’s residents to agree to play live music during the night, and Dionysus was able to find some, ah, more widely appreciated CDs to play during the breaks between performers.

The room has been decorated to the nines again, but where last year he had green vines draping on the walls diffusing the glow from the twinkling fairy lights, this year he has strung up swooping vines of silver, glittering almost like tinsel. The large food tables have an almost ridiculous amount of things to munch on; there should be something for everyone there.

It should go without saying that the beverage tables are well-stocked, considering the host.

The festivities are starting a little earlier this year than last, out of respect for those who may or may not have earlier bedtimes. Come dressed in your finest, it’s a yearly tradition now!




Just as there was last year, there is to be an ‘after party’. If your character is part of the standard Orgy Invite Crew, they will have received another invitation to that half of the evening as well. Just like last year, this part of the event is to be handwaved, for obvious reasons.

Lancelot arrives fashionably late, due in part to his choices in fashion. Kade had done more than give ideas (of course) -- he had crafted a look, and said look was new enough to Lancelot to require a little assistance in the preparing. Nonetheless, he's here now and feeling surprisingly not nervous.

He's wearing a fairly dramatic suit, especially by his standards. It is a tailored suit, woven all over with vivid deep blue roses on black, but the jacket is a structural marvel that shows off Lancelot's chest and shoulders, less freckled after the lack of sun during Dark, but just as well-muscled as ever.

He pauses only briefly on entering to glance around, then goes in search of his first glass of champagne. He'll gladly speak to anyone, and could even be enticed into dancing.

"Dude, I think your shirt is missing its shoulders?"

"It is a jacket," he replies affably, "and no, it is not."

He gestures at the shoulders of the jacket, which do exist though (of course) they sit below his actual shoulders.

"Sounds like something a guy who forgot to put on his shoulders this morning would say."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Magnus, I did not dress in this when I arose this morning." He grins. "Thy shirt-- it is considerably more bright than what I am used to seeing on thee."

"Sunny picked it out so that we'd match," Magnus says, tugging at the edge of one of the lace flowers. "Well, Alex helped her. You should wear your shirt to training sometime. Looks like it would really, um, help your range of motion."

"Oh!" This is a sound of apparently sincere interest. "Hast thou found my range of motion to be restricted of late?"

"You look very, very good in that," Dionysus says as a greeting, handing a glass of champagne to Lancelot.

Lancelot gives a little bow, then accepts the glass.

"My thanks," with a smile, "thou lookest magnificent, thyself."

[vineleaves]

"Whaaaat, this old thing?" He poses, then laughs. "Thank you, dear."

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot laughs, "If it's old, then that's all the more impressive."

[vineleaves]

"It's not, actually, that was a fib. It's brand new."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"In any case, it suits thee." He smiles and raises his glass in a toast before sipping.

[futaille]

"So how is it that every time there's a large gathering, you happen to be one of the most stunning people to walk in the door?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

He turns immediately, smiling and flushing at the same time. "Sir, I confess, I have had a great deal of assistance from Kade, essentially every time."

[futaille]

"I do have to admit that if the clothes were to walk in all by themselves with no assistance, it would also be attention grabbing. However, they still wouldn't look nearly as good."

"Well, I give thee my thanks." Then he takes a step back, spreading his arms a little, to show off for Grantaire. "I appreciate very much the compliment."

[futaille]

Grantaire leans back and looks over Lancelot and the outfit adorning him. "Absolutely marvelous. It wouldn't suit anyone here nearly as well."

"I shall pass that praise on to Kade."

[biteybaby]

Sunny gasps when she sees Lancelot. "Lanceot! Your shirt is missing pieces!" Maybe his closet is being mean and eating parts of his clothes before it lets him get dressed.

He grins, "No, Sunny, all is well. My jacket is meant to look as such. Although, what thou'st said is also what Magnus believed."

[biteybaby]

"What if you arms get cold?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Oh, I'm rarely cold. Worry not. Art thou enjoying the party?"

[biteybaby]

Sunny doesn't say anything, she just gives him a look.

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot half-smiles, his eyebrows going up; he is, to be honest, just as perplexed by her reaction as he is by his own assumption that she would enjoy this sort of party.

"Well, in that case, we should find something better to do."
