Open: In a shout of joy at the only shrine where you come benighted and leave benign

Dark has come and gone again, which means it’s time to party.

In some ways the party is very similar to last year’s - same large banquet room in the mansion, a similarly large abundance of food and drink, and the promise of a night full of letting loose for everyone in attendance. It’s far from a direct clone of the previous party though. For starters, Dionysus has had Claudius help him in all of the planning (sometimes a god’s blessings come in the form of enrichment for one’s enclosure). They’ve gotten several of the mansion’s residents to agree to play live music during the night, and Dionysus was able to find some, ah, more widely appreciated CDs to play during the breaks between performers.

The room has been decorated to the nines again, but where last year he had green vines draping on the walls diffusing the glow from the twinkling fairy lights, this year he has strung up swooping vines of silver, glittering almost like tinsel. The large food tables have an almost ridiculous amount of things to munch on; there should be something for everyone there.

It should go without saying that the beverage tables are well-stocked, considering the host.

The festivities are starting a little earlier this year than last, out of respect for those who may or may not have earlier bedtimes. Come dressed in your finest, it’s a yearly tradition now!




Just as there was last year, there is to be an ‘after party’. If your character is part of the standard Orgy Invite Crew, they will have received another invitation to that half of the evening as well. Just like last year, this part of the event is to be handwaved, for obvious reasons.

Magnus gives him a suspicious look, and decides to repeat himself just in case. "Okay, well, vacuum cleaners clean the floor, and roombas are little round robots that are kind of like self-propelled vacuum cleaners that just do whatever they want and go wherever they want and make rich people feel like their floors are getting clean, or whatever. And knife roombas are ones people tape knives on top of, so that they're little round ankle-height rampaging knife machines. I'm just saying, in a Who Would Win: Lancelot Or Three Knife Roombas?-type battle, you'd be julienned. Unless you had pasta arms, in which case you'd be floppy enough to have a fighting chance."

"I disagree," putting on a loftier tone. "If they are that small, I would have no issue dispatching it with my current degree of flexibility."

"You say that now, but that's because you've never seen a knife roomba before."

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot waves a hand, "I fear them not. Dost thou wish to say anything that makes good sense, this evening?"

[summerdude]

Magnus frowns. "Why would I want to do that?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

"So that I might understand thee enough to continue speaking with thee?"

[summerdude]

"You think I'm fun and funky-fresh," confidently. "You like complaining about how I don't make any sense. Actually, incidentally, I do. I make all the sense."

[lanselos_du_lac]

Lancelot raises an eyebrow at him and then turns to leave, fully expecting to be stopped. (This is a gag, of course, though he is not terribly good at telegraphing that.)

"Bro, if you need a minute to hide the depth of your secret fondness emotions, that's fine, I can look the other way."

He does turn back, "Fondness?"

[summerdude]

"Yeah, that's what I said."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"For thee?"

[summerdude]

"What, you're gonna take it back now?"

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Take what back?"

[summerdude]

"Bro, you've told me you like me. As a person. You did not take the out."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"I may have said that," making a show of allowing the point.

[summerdude]

"You definitely said that, you don't have to pretend to have amnesia about it. It's fine. You're cool." Magnus pauses for a beat. "You'd be cooler if you fought knife roombas with noodle arms, though."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"That is what I mean," turning back, fully engaged. "The 'noodle arms'¹ thou speakest of would be a detriment. Not an advantage."

"Maybe in the theater of battle," Magnus allows. "But they'd make you cool. Don't you want to be cool? You could be so freaking cool."

"I have no interest in being 'cool'," he says seriously, "whatever that may mean."

[summerdude]

"You don't want to be exciting? Or fun? Or impressive to other people?" Magnus gives Lancelot a dubious look. "Okaaaaaaaaaaaaay."
