Open: In a shout of joy at the only shrine where you come benighted and leave benign

Dark has come and gone again, which means it’s time to party.

In some ways the party is very similar to last year’s - same large banquet room in the mansion, a similarly large abundance of food and drink, and the promise of a night full of letting loose for everyone in attendance. It’s far from a direct clone of the previous party though. For starters, Dionysus has had Claudius help him in all of the planning (sometimes a god’s blessings come in the form of enrichment for one’s enclosure). They’ve gotten several of the mansion’s residents to agree to play live music during the night, and Dionysus was able to find some, ah, more widely appreciated CDs to play during the breaks between performers.

The room has been decorated to the nines again, but where last year he had green vines draping on the walls diffusing the glow from the twinkling fairy lights, this year he has strung up swooping vines of silver, glittering almost like tinsel. The large food tables have an almost ridiculous amount of things to munch on; there should be something for everyone there.

It should go without saying that the beverage tables are well-stocked, considering the host.

The festivities are starting a little earlier this year than last, out of respect for those who may or may not have earlier bedtimes. Come dressed in your finest, it’s a yearly tradition now!




Just as there was last year, there is to be an ‘after party’. If your character is part of the standard Orgy Invite Crew, they will have received another invitation to that half of the evening as well. Just like last year, this part of the event is to be handwaved, for obvious reasons.

Grantaire obligingly sips the wine from Dionysus's glass. "Oh, that's lovely."

[vineleaves]

He smiles. "One of my favorite hobbies is giving you wine and then listening to you tell me it's good."

[futaille]

"Thankfully," he says, giving Dionysus a kiss," it's a hobby we'll both be able to indulge in for a very long time."

[vineleaves]

He's giving Grantaire that heart-eyes-emoji look that he has every time he remembers they're engaged. "I do have a never-ending supply of different wines for you to try, after all."

[futaille]

"And I love every one of them. Even the bad ones."

[vineleaves]

He swirls his wine glass, changing it to a different wine as he does, then takes a sip himself before lifting the glass to Grantaire's lips again.

[futaille]

That's such a fun trick. He has a sip. "Hm. Oh, that's an interesting one."

[vineleaves]

"Good interesting or bad interesting?"

[futaille]

"Good interesting, I would say. There's an undertone I can't quite put my finger on."

[vineleaves]

"Kind of like bell pepper, right?"

[futaille]

"Oh! That sounds right, yes!"

[vineleaves]

"It's to do with the chemical makeup, there's a few things that can influence it, in this case it was the temperature while the grapies¹ were growing."


1. Based on my limited knowledge of French, he's probably saying something like 'raisinette' here? but that just makes me think of the chocolates, so.

"There's certainly no better expert than you, cher.”

[vineleaves]

"Aww, that's so sweet," he says, ignoring the fact that it's also just a basic, honest fact given he's, you know, the god of Wine. He leans up to give Grantaire another kiss.

[futaille]

He returns the kiss in kind, holding Dionysus close.

[vineleaves]

When they part, he says, "D'you want to dance with me?"

[futaille]

"Of course I do."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus drains the rest of his glass, then lifts Grantaire’s hand holding his own glass up to his lips for him to finish that off before they go dance. It’s easier to dance if you’re not holding anything, after all. That’s definitely the reason he’s doing this, and not because he loves watching his husband-to-be drinking wine.

[futaille]

He quite happily polishes off his drink before setting the glass down and taking Dionysus's hand.

[vineleaves]

There's a slower song playing right now, so when they get to the dancefloor, Dionysus wraps his arms around Grantaire's neck and presses in close.

[futaille]

Grantaire lets his own arms slip around Dionysus's waist then, a smile on his face as they dance.

[vineleaves]

"You're beautiful."

[futaille]

"Oh, did I suddenly turn into a mirror?"

[vineleaves]

"I know you're shinier than usual tonight, but not that shiny."

[futaille]

"Slightly shiny. Subtly adorned."
