Open: In a shout of joy at the only shrine where you come benighted and leave benign

Dark has come and gone again, which means it’s time to party.

In some ways the party is very similar to last year’s - same large banquet room in the mansion, a similarly large abundance of food and drink, and the promise of a night full of letting loose for everyone in attendance. It’s far from a direct clone of the previous party though. For starters, Dionysus has had Claudius help him in all of the planning (sometimes a god’s blessings come in the form of enrichment for one’s enclosure). They’ve gotten several of the mansion’s residents to agree to play live music during the night, and Dionysus was able to find some, ah, more widely appreciated CDs to play during the breaks between performers.

The room has been decorated to the nines again, but where last year he had green vines draping on the walls diffusing the glow from the twinkling fairy lights, this year he has strung up swooping vines of silver, glittering almost like tinsel. The large food tables have an almost ridiculous amount of things to munch on; there should be something for everyone there.

It should go without saying that the beverage tables are well-stocked, considering the host.

The festivities are starting a little earlier this year than last, out of respect for those who may or may not have earlier bedtimes. Come dressed in your finest, it’s a yearly tradition now!




Just as there was last year, there is to be an ‘after party’. If your character is part of the standard Orgy Invite Crew, they will have received another invitation to that half of the evening as well. Just like last year, this part of the event is to be handwaved, for obvious reasons.

"Ooh, important question, what song do we want to dance to at the wedding? I mean, we'll probably dance to several songs, but, y'know, if we want to do the whole 'first dance as spouses' thing."

[futaille]

"Oh, I don't know. You're much more a song expert than I. Is there one you're really secretly hoping for?"

[vineleaves]

"Nah," he laughs. "If I already had one in mind I would've led with that. We can give it some thought. Maybe something from a show that you've also seen, if we can find a good choice?"

[futaille]

"We're not dancing to opera."

[vineleaves]

"What if it's, y'know, a remix?"

[futaille]

"I'm sure we can find something else."

[vineleaves]

He laughs. "Nope, I'm limiting us to opera remixes." He's clearly, thankfully, joking.

[futaille]

"Oh, I'm sure everyone will love them, then."

[vineleaves]

"There's incredibly few of us here who would even be likely to recognize a song as being from an opera," he laughs.

[futaille]

"You're not wrong, really."

[vineleaves]

"So they wouldn't even know, other than me, you, Apollo... uh..." Is that it? "Oh, Aziraphale!"

[futaille]

"Wouldn't Crowley, then?"

[vineleaves]

"I don't doubt that he's seen operas, but would he recognize the songs from one?"

[futaille]

He laughs. "You make a very good point."

[vineleaves]

"I do make those occasionally," he says with a wry smile.

[futaille]

"You make—Oh.. I see your point."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus smiles and rises up to kiss Grantaire again just as the song they were dancing to ends. "Ah, here," he says, magic-ing up fresh glasses of champagne for Grantaire and himself.

[futaille]

"Thank you," he says as he takes his glass. "Dancing can certainly work up a thirst." He has a long sip.

[vineleaves]

"It certainly can." He takes a sip of his own wine, not taking his eyes off of Grantaire.

[futaille]

He obviously notices Dionysus's look so he shoots him a wink before tilting his head back to drink more.

[vineleaves]

"You're doing that on purpose now," Dionysus says, but Grantaire's glass is refilling itself so he clearly doesn't mind.

[futaille]

"Of course I am," he says with a smile. "I love tasting you—your wine."

[vineleaves]

“You don’t know how close I am to leaving this party to its own defenses so I can drag you off to somewhere else.”

[futaille]

His smile widens into an impish grin. "I'm just giving you another reason to look forward to the afterparty."

[vineleaves]

"Oh, maybe I should return the favor then." He reaches up and tucks a stray curl behind Grantaire's ear, and oh-so-casually slips into his mind as he does so. He's not actually messing with anything yet, but you know, the 'threat' of it is there.
