He isn't really sure how it happened, the first time. He went to make some jelly for toast, his thoughts drifted, perhaps, and he ended up not just with the jelly, but also with several bananas. This was, as you can imagine, a huge shock, and he actually jumped back when he first noticed them, startled by the absolute jumpscare of their appearance. He calmed down quickly enough, and started playing around to see what would happen.

In a way it makes sense. He has been able to tell that everything is more magical here this month, a complete opposite to the effect Dark had on things. During Dark his powers were weakened, so it would follow they are stronger now. He just didn't assume that would mean expanding his powers.

This, of course, brings us to now. It's early afternoon in one of the many parlors of the mansion, and he seems to finally have gotten the hang of things, as evidenced by the fact that he's absolutely surrounded by various fruits, fruit wines, preserves, vegetables, and even a few bags of rice. His thyrsus, which has scarcely left his side since he found it a few days ago, is resting against a wall. If his new powers are linked just to Rainbows, that means he has less than twelve hours to enjoy them. He's reasonably certain that the thyrsus will remain after the season changes.

"It's nice to see everyone getting to experience life outside of whatever genre they came from," says the god currently living with a man from a story called The Miserables.

[az_fell]

"Oh, certainly." Aziraphale laughs. "Although I think it's rather startling for some. Do you know Tress? The seas in her source material aren't made of water at all."

[vineleaves]

"Oh I adore Tress! She's such a sweetheart!" This is an opinion he would hold even if she couldn't make vines. The vines are just an added bonus.

[az_fell]

Aziraphale's post-laughter smile lingers and broadens. "I adore her, too. I'm quite sure she's the main character of whatever book is fortunate enough to feature her."

[vineleaves]

"Hopefully it's a happy book, and not, y'know, a really sad one where a bunch of bad things happen."

[az_fell]

"It's an adventure," says Aziraphale reassuringly. "The ending is happy, and Tress is very brave and resourceful throughout."

[vineleaves]

"Adventure with a happy ending is good. Much better than the thought of her potentially being from a tragedy. I like tragedies a lot more when they're, y'know, not about people I know personally."

[az_fell]

"Ah, yes." Aziraphale winces. "I revealed a bit too much about Arthurian legend to Sagramore recently."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus immediately looks a little distressed. "Did -- ah, well -- I did that myself once." In his defense, Sagramore specifically asked, but still.

[az_fell]

"He asked how it all ended, and -- well." Another demonstrative wince. "He wouldn't be content with a vaguer answer, unfortunately."

[vineleaves]

"This kinda situation is exactly why I quit giving out prophecies. It's all fun and games until -- well, until it isn't."

[az_fell]

"Oh, no, it sounds dreadful," says Aziraphale feelingly. "I don't blame you, my friend."

[vineleaves]

"Delphi was a lot of fun the rest of the time though. Y'know. Back when I used to live there. It was just one day a month that we'd have people showing up for prophecies."

[az_fell]

"Oh, yes, Greece could be quite a nice time back in the day." Aziraphale almost says it's a wonder they never ran into each other, then thinks better of it.

[vineleaves]

"Could be. Often wasn't, depending on who you were," he points out. "I mostly meant, y'know, being at the temple was fun. Our priestesses could have a better life than most women at the time, because we'd do what we could for them, but... I'm not about to pretend like everything was lovely for everyone in Ancient Greece just because I'm an Ancient Grecian."

[az_fell]

"It hasn't been lovely for everyone at any time in human history quite yet," Aziraphale points out. "Humans can be quite cruel -- and quite wonderful, often at the very same time."

[vineleaves]

"Ain't that the truth," he says, then smiles. "I do think humans are more good than not, as a whole. Granted, I might be biased, considering, y'know, I'm half one anyway."

[az_fell]

"I've a hard time coming down on one side or the other," says Aziraphale, blissfully oblivious to the heavy-handed parallelism of this statement, "but I do like humans very much."

[vineleaves]

"Preferrable to gods in almost every case," he says in agreement.

[az_fell]

"Present company excepted," says Aziraphale. This is absolutely an evasion, but he does, conveniently, mean it.
