vineleaves: (Sad boy hours)
Towards the end of the night Dionysus and Ariadne make their way down to his garden, to sit under his vines, and enjoy their last achingly few hours together. Ariadne has her crown as well as a handful of letters - it's winter at home, Persephone will be in Hades and be able to take a note to Mako and a few other specific individuals for him come springtime.

He breaks down, he begs her, begs her not to go, but when the time comes, despite his arms wrapped around her, grasping at her shoulders, tight enough that it should leave marks were she not already dead, he blinks -- and she's gone. He nearly collapses from it, the sudden shift in balance. There's a moment where he's in shock, then he crumples to the ground. Deep cracks form in the soil, spreading out from where he's crying, like a shattered mirror. His grapevines whither and rot. Back up in the mansion, all of the bottles of wine and any grapes that may be sitting around any of the kitchens or other rooms spoil.

The first time he lost her he created stars from his grief. Now that it was her choice to leave all he can bring himself to do is cry.

It's another hour or two before he can pick himself up off the ground enough to walk back inside.
