Open: In a shout of joy at the only shrine where you come benighted and leave benign

Dark has come and gone again, which means it’s time to party.

In some ways the party is very similar to last year’s - same large banquet room in the mansion, a similarly large abundance of food and drink, and the promise of a night full of letting loose for everyone in attendance. It’s far from a direct clone of the previous party though. For starters, Dionysus has had Claudius help him in all of the planning (sometimes a god’s blessings come in the form of enrichment for one’s enclosure). They’ve gotten several of the mansion’s residents to agree to play live music during the night, and Dionysus was able to find some, ah, more widely appreciated CDs to play during the breaks between performers.

The room has been decorated to the nines again, but where last year he had green vines draping on the walls diffusing the glow from the twinkling fairy lights, this year he has strung up swooping vines of silver, glittering almost like tinsel. The large food tables have an almost ridiculous amount of things to munch on; there should be something for everyone there.

It should go without saying that the beverage tables are well-stocked, considering the host.

The festivities are starting a little earlier this year than last, out of respect for those who may or may not have earlier bedtimes. Come dressed in your finest, it’s a yearly tradition now!




Just as there was last year, there is to be an ‘after party’. If your character is part of the standard Orgy Invite Crew, they will have received another invitation to that half of the evening as well. Just like last year, this part of the event is to be handwaved, for obvious reasons.

Dionysus can be found all evening greeting people as they arrive and generally sort of flitting around, making sure everyone is having a good time, that they’ve got whatever they need, and that their glasses are never empty. He was able to find a beautiful silver beaded dress with sleeves that reach the floor (and look, he thinks, really impressive whenever he’s using his powers). His hair has been styled in a lovely updo with a few curls purposefully placed to frame his face just so, and the vine leaves in his hair are silver to match the theme.

"Sweet-heart, thou art radiant!"

Dionysus wraps his arms around Sagramore's waist and goes up on his tiptoes to give him a kiss. "Thank you, love! You look --" there's actually a lot of different adjectives bouncing around in Dionysus's mind right now as he leans back enough to rake his eyes over Sagramore's outfit, his gaze getting particularly stuck at the point where the mesh of the top meets the waistband of his trousers, showing off the line of hair there... "This is a very, very nice outfit. You look fucking hot."

Sagramore beams, gazing down at him. "Well, it is a orgy, I wanted to dress suitably."

[vineleaves]

"I'm planning on changing outfits before that part of the night," he says. As nice as he thinks this dress is, it's a little hard to move in, and he doesn't want to damage it, so he found another dress. Well, it's mostly just a bit of sheer silver fabric draped into a vague dress-shape, but same thing right?

[sagramore]

"Oh, something more risque?" clearly delighted by that prospect.

[vineleaves]

"Oh, absolutely. It doesn't really cover up anything."

[sagramore]

"I can't wait to see it. And how hath thou and Etienne been?"

[vineleaves]

"Wonderful, of course," he's beaming. "Have you seen him yet tonight? He's gorgeous."

[sagramore]

"He's always gorgeous," teasing. "What makes it remarkable tonight?"

[vineleaves]

"Well, of course he's always gorgeous, that goes without saying. But tonight he let me dress him up in a bunch of rhinestones, and he's -- ah, well, he has vines in his hair..."

[sagramore]

"Staking thy claim," still teasing, because of course he doesn't think Dionysus is possessive. "I'll look for him."

[vineleaves]

“Something like that,” Dionysus says, sheepishly. It isn’t out of any sort of possessive intention — Sagramore is correct in that Dionysus isn’t really a possessive person, at all. It’s more just… a sense of joy at an outward sign of affection. A kind of admission to everyone that they belong together, not in the sense of a belonging, but that they are going to be a family, and everyone ought to know.

He laughs and gives Dionysus a squeeze. "Thou belongst to one another. I know. Thou hast seen how Laertes and I have marked ourselves for that purpose."

[vineleaves]

"I think it's very sweet, your tattoos. I know Magnus is working on figuring out what he wants his to look like too." This is a bit of an understatement, since what actually has been happening is Magnus has been asking Noted Pre-Christianity Thracian Dionysus to help him determine what some of the symbols mean, and which ones are and aren't Christian.

[sagramore]

"Right, so he is," with another soft laugh. "He wants it to be right. It's funny, because of course when Laertes and I chose it it was really all just vibes, which I thought would suit Nuszka too. But he's always surprising me."

[vineleaves]

"I mean, I can sympathize with being from a different pantheon and not wanting people to have any reason to associate you with Christianity," he shrugs. He is very careful about the whole 'can turn water into wine' thing nowadays. You only make that mistake so many times before everyone comparing you to Jesus gets really old.

[sagramore]

Sagramore cocks his head with a slight smile. "I don't want anything to do with Christianity either."

[vineleaves]

"Good, it's a piece of shit religion, if you ask me."

[sagramore]

"I can't say I'm in favor of any religion particularly."

[vineleaves]

"Probably wise," he says, as if he himself isn't a religion.

[sagramore]

To be fair, Sagramore forgets that a lot too. He reaches for Dionysus' hand. "All right, what have I got to try tonight?"

[vineleaves]

"Well, what are you in the mood for? We've got a lot of snackies and drinkies." Much like last year, there is a wide variety of nonalcoholic drinks they can choose from, of course.

[sagramore]

"Let me try thy favorite first."

[vineleaves]

Well, his favorite is just the regular ol' grapes, of course, but he looks over the table of snackies for a moment trying to decide on something more exciting for Sagramore. "Ooh, d'you like tiramisu?" It's coffee, right? Sagramore likes coffee. Dionysus remembers how good it tasted when they had swapped bodies. He picks up a small glass jar holding an individual serving of tiramisu and a little spoon and offers it to Sagramore.
