Dark has come and gone again, which means it’s time to party.

In some ways the party is very similar to last year’s - same large banquet room in the mansion, a similarly large abundance of food and drink, and the promise of a night full of letting loose for everyone in attendance. It’s far from a direct clone of the previous party though. For starters, Dionysus has had Claudius help him in all of the planning (sometimes a god’s blessings come in the form of enrichment for one’s enclosure). They’ve gotten several of the mansion’s residents to agree to play live music during the night, and Dionysus was able to find some, ah, more widely appreciated CDs to play during the breaks between performers.

The room has been decorated to the nines again, but where last year he had green vines draping on the walls diffusing the glow from the twinkling fairy lights, this year he has strung up swooping vines of silver, glittering almost like tinsel. The large food tables have an almost ridiculous amount of things to munch on; there should be something for everyone there.

It should go without saying that the beverage tables are well-stocked, considering the host.

The festivities are starting a little earlier this year than last, out of respect for those who may or may not have earlier bedtimes. Come dressed in your finest, it’s a yearly tradition now!

Just as there was last year, there is to be an ‘after party’. If your character is part of the standard Orgy Invite Crew, they will have received another invitation to that half of the evening as well. Just like last year, this part of the event is to be handwaved, for obvious reasons.

"Ah, yes, that's an important order." He places Sunny on the floor and begins filling the plate with apple slices.

"Apple slices is good food."

"That is a very salient point. Is it in your top ten?" Being Magnus' dad is rubbing off a bit.

"Yeah probaly. Hardtack is best food though." She didn't see any hardtack here though, which is just another reason why maybe Sissy and Claudi need lessons from Magnu in how to throw a good fun party. Magnu would totally have hardtack.

"Mmm, that's right." Hardtack has been a Sunny obsession since the ski lodge arrived before Dark, so this isn't novel information. Sagramore finishes loading the plate and crouches down to give it to Sunny. "It's a shame they left it off tonight's menu, isn't it?"

"Only Magnu know how to make a good party," she says with a sigh.

"Perhaps the two of us need to throw a party of our own."

"With coloring! And one of the bouncy things!"

"And what foods shall we serve?"

"Hardtack! And carrots! And chips! And cookies!"

"And apple slices?"

"Uh huh!" To make her point, she takes a BIIIIIIIIG bite of one of the apple slices Apu gave her. "Apu didst thou knowed that apple seeds is poison? But only if thou eatest three apples in one day."

"What! Really? Who told thee that?"

"Magnu."

"That doesn't surprise me, actually. We'll have to ask thine Uncle Claudius."

"Why? Magnu already said."

Very gently, "Sometimes thy brother is wrong about things, know thou."

“No?”

"Well, I've eaten three apples in a day, and I'm alive and well, little rabbit."

“Maybe wrong color. Knowest how some apples is red and some is green and some is yellow and some is lots of colors? Maybe only some apple colors has poison seeds.”

"And doesn't that sound like another question for Claudius?" laughing.

“Maybe. I dunno if Claudi knows a lot about good food though. If I have a jello question I ask him.”

"But he knows everything about plants and poisons."

“Not everything. Him does not even know which plants to yell at each day I bet. And I bet Uncle Monty knewed more about poisons cause him had a big cabinet with snakes venoms and that what Count Olaf use to murder him.” Claudi has clearly never been murdered with his own poisons before, so he must not be as much of an expert.

"Claudius doesn't yell. He coaxes and manipulates." Ah, he's feeling defensive, the way he did when Sunny hated Asmodean. It's all right. Claudius doesn't need him to insist on his brilliance.

And then, as the second part of Sunny's comment sinks in: Ah. "Jesu, I'm glad that man is dead."
